Strähle Raum‑Systeme creates comprehensive CO₂ balance sheet to cover the entire value chain

Strähle Raum‑Systeme GmbH has created a completely new Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF) balance sheet for 2024, which covers all three emission categories in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. In addition to direct emissions at our own production sites in Waiblingen, Borkheide and Guntramsdorf, upstream and downstream processes along the entire value chain have also been taken into account.

The results are clear: the largest proportion of emissions is not attributable to our own operations, but Scope 3. Purchased goods and services dominate, accounting for 85% of the company’s carbon footprint. In contrast, direct emissions from our facilities (Scope 1) only make up 3% and therefore have a limited impact.

Strähle was able to target successful reductions by focusing on their energy supply in particular. Thanks to the commissioning of new photovoltaic systems and the large-scale conversion to certified green electricity, Scope 2 energy-related emissions have fallen by around 80% compared to the first CO₂ balance sheet in 2020. This highlights the company’s consistent policy of ensuring that its in-house energy consumption is increasingly climate friendly.

Strähle has already initiated concrete measures aimed at reducing the dominant Scope 3 emissions in the future. One key approach is the ongoing switch to low‑carbon aluminium for the extruded profiles used – one of the most significant items in the product portfolio. Further measures to mitigate climate impact in the supply chain are also in the pipeline.

With this updated CO₂ balance sheet, Strähle is creating a transparent database for future climate targets and at the same time, showing that climate-relevant measures are already being effectively implemented today. The company will continuously communicate its progress and actively drive the transformation to low-emission value added.
