Sustainability
at Strähle.

Our aim is to provide our customers with flexible room structures that have a long service life. We are constantly working to improve the environmental friendliness, cost-effectiveness and social responsibility of our products and our company's overall approach.

Strähle 360-degree section:

The circular economy represents a paradigm shift in our economic activity. The transformation of our current linear economic system, consisting of ‘produce – use – dispose’, into a circular system means questioning the status quo and rethinking products and their use.

Designprozess

Strähle 360 Grad

The entire life cycle of a product is taken into account. New design principles are established that consider the end of the life cycle right from the design process. Relevant factors include material selection, processing, construction up to the end of the product's useful life, and subsequently the separation of components by type for return to the material cycle. This results in secondary materials that, in the best case, consist entirely of recycled components or have the highest possible recycled content, which is being further expanded. In 2015, we therefore had our first partition wall system certified according to Cradle to Cradle®. The second system followed in 2020.

One example of our commitment in this area is our Strähle 360° approach, which actively promotes sustainable material cycles.

Products

Circular Economy

The aim of the circular economy is to reuse raw materials as often as possible without any loss of quality, thereby avoiding waste. This approach requires a paradigm shift in design, as the life cycle of a product must be taken into account from the outset. Only materials that are processed separately and sorted so that they can be returned to the cycle can deliver on this promise. The concept of sustainability is embedded in our products in various ways. Thanks to their flexibility, modularity and simple assembly, the partition wall systems can continue to be used even when spatial changes occur. At Strähle, we are working to bring products to market that follow the concept of the circular economy. To this end, we closely examine the product and material cycle throughout the entire life cycle.

Materials

To manufacture our products, we need valuable raw materials such as steel, aluminium, glass and wood, which can be easily recycled. We strive to use the highest possible proportion of recycled materials in our products.

Glass

The recycling rate is currently
30%.

Wood

We mainly use FSC and PEFC certified wood-based materials.

Steel

The proportion of recycled steel is typically 20–30%.

Aluminium

We source our aluminium from five different suppliers who offer material with an average recycled content of 40%.

Sustainability

Let’s be honest.

As a family business, Strähle is committed to the future. We plan for the long term, not in quarters. Our goals are not based solely on profit, but have been guided by sustainable values for years. Strähle is one of the leading manufacturers of partition wall systems, room-in-room systems and acoustic solutions. We were the first manufacturer in our industry in Germany to commit to a circular economy and are driving innovation in various areas. Our first sustainability report transparently outlines the status quo and shows the sustainable goals we have set ourselves for the future.

Certificates

Strähle systems support the requirements of building certificates such as DGNB, LEED, BREEAM and HafenCity. The systems are rated positively, particularly because they can be dismantled and reused at any time and are not permanently connected to building components. Cradle to Cradle® certified products are also awarded higher scores. Strähle is the first German partition wall manufacturer to have created EPDs (Environmental Product Declarations) for all partition walls and the doors installed in them.

Stay - Development that lasts

Stay supports social initiatives by local people, initially in Uganda, under the motto ‘Development without development workers’. At the heart of this innovative project is the ‘LATEK Stay Alliance Uganda’ network, facilitated by Stay, which brings together committed locals, known as social entrepreneurs. Stay's vision is a self-determined and free life for all people. Through the campaign ENTREPRENEURS FOR ENTREPRENEURS – STUTTGART, Strähle, together with many other companies, supports this groundbreaking project.

School project in Burkina Faso

The construction of the Lycée Municipal Timo & Rixa deThiou fulfils Timo and Rixa Stetter's dream of offering disadvantaged children a future. They wanted to help people, especially children, who do not have the same opportunities and possibilities as they themselves have. They wanted to share their success with others. One thing was particularly important to them: education, as it is one of the greatest assets a person can have. Education is not only important for the development of each individual, but above all for the development of society and its continued existence.
