Landsberger Allee
New work in the Old Slaughterhouses. The design from architects Gewers & Pudewill reimagines the site of the "Alter Schlachthof" on Landsberger Allee in the Friedrichshain district of Berlin. Once the largest slaughterhouse in Europe, it is now a lively, creative centre along the lines of New York's Meatpacking District, ushering in a whole new way of working. Carefully blending past and present, these historic halls – which were used as a central storage location for the city of Berlin – have been transformed into unique, modern office facilities.

Im Detail.
The four listed red-brick halls have been lovingly restored with a keen eye for detail and are now home to offices, cafés, bars, fitness facilities and shops for local independent retailers. The centrepiece of the design is the five-storey futuristic new structure, which is flooded with natural light and offers innovative workspaces for around 2,500 people.
Strähle's flexible partition wall and room-in-room systems have been installed in a range of rental spaces across the site. The modular and flexible construction method is ideal for creating custom office concepts tailored to the specific requirements of tenants, including furniture company home24, which is why the development's planners opted for the double-glazed System 2000 range
Special details like the curved glazed elements in the System 3400 range have been used as accents in the entrance area, while black powder-coated profiles and film coatings on the glass walls incorporate the industrial design concept.
