Lohsepark, Hamburg

Following a two-year construction period, Wintershall Dea’s 500 or so employees have moved into the company’s new office building in the Lohsepark setting of Hamburg’s HafenCity urban development area. More than 100 employees had formed work groups to help develop the new office concept together with the project team – not only influencing the work environment, but also highlighting the company’s open culture. The result is a modern multi-space office spanning eight floors, where employees are given flexible use of the desks in team zones and can alternate between open-plan areas, meeting rooms and single/double offices. Amongst all that, coworking spaces provide creative hubs, whether as temporary workstations or versatile meeting rooms.

Visually, the black anodised profiles of the glass walls and cubes of Strähle’s System 2300 structural glazing system harmonise perfectly, while the 100-mm solid doors keep noise to an absolute minimum. The creative hubs, built using the double-glazed KUBUS II system, have been designed for a range of work scenarios – as a focus space, meeting room for four or six people or temporary workstation equipped with a desk for two people. The KUBUS modules have been arranged both in rows and as single islands within the open space. The black profiles combined with the warm wood tones and flush glass walls create an elegant ambience. What’s more, the building has been designed in accordance with the HafenCity Platinum Ecolabel, so it meets strict sustainability requirements.
