Volksbank Mittlerer
Neckar
Wendlingen
Standing at the corner of Bahnhofstraße and Stuttgarter Straße, the new administrative building of the Volksbank Mittlerer Neckar eG in Wendlingen marks the western entrance to the city with a candid and forward-looking architectural statement. The group of three tiered buildings, rising up to ten storeys, strikes an impressive urban accent and combines several functions under one roof: internal bank departments, training/conference rooms and even a police station.

In detail.
The architecture from Muffler Architekten embodies clarity, transparency and communication. Expansive office spaces and internal courtyards suffused with natural light create an inspiring contemporary workplace.
One striking architectural feature of the new building is provided by the numerous room-height, full-glass corners which lend the internal space an impressive transparency and airy ambience. They create flowing transitions between workspaces, allow daylight to flood deep into the building and have a huge impact on the open, communicative atmosphere.
Over a gross floor area of around 18,400 m², the general contractor, Ed. Züblin AG, carried out the sophisticated construction. The high-class interior design integrates System 2000 and 2300 partition wall systems from Strähle – including veneered sections with aluminium-framed doors. This intentional use of materials, with its combination of glass and wooden surfaces, achieves a warm, yet elegant office landscape.
The project is also setting new standards in terms of technology and ecology: energy-efficient building technology, photovoltaics, geothermal energy and the use of recycled concrete all contribute towards the target of DGNB Platinum certification. The result is a sustainable, forward-looking workplace and an exemplary architectural combination of transparency, quality and responsibility.
